7 Things to Teach Your Daughter on International Women’s Day

Spread the love

There’s practically nothing we celebrate today that our kids don’t get to hear about through the internet or television. I have had my little ones asked countless time today ‘’what is it about women’s day’’?.  Yes, today’s kids are very much current, all thanks to technology.  So, how would you put your child especially your female child through today’s celebration of international women’s day? What are the most important things your daughter needs to know about being a girl?

I have decided to share with you how I explained everything about women’s day to my kids just in case you are wondering what to tell your child about today’s cause.

Every 8th of march is a set aside date to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and to encourage girls, no matter their situation, to feel empowered, and to have their human rights fulfilled.

Do you belong to the school of thought that believe there really are some things women cannot do? Perhaps this is when you just must rethink it. Teaching gender equality can be tough, but it starts at home by raising questions with our children both male and female and leading by example to address the societal norms that suggest that women are inferior.  Here are few things to teach your child towards raising a generation of empowered women.

  • Girls can do EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING that boys can do.
  • You are perfect just the way you are
  • Be yourself
  • Don’t believe everything on social media
  • Sport isn’t just for boys
  • It’s fun to be a girl
  • Science is not gender specific

Its never too early to start planting the good message of gender equality in your daughter to make them dream and hope to be the best they can be. Don’t forget to share with fellow parents in your network
